Big Deep is just a ten minute drive, just outside of Woodstock. A trail takes you to this secluded spot where you can dive in off rocks without fear of touching bottom or cannonball off the rope swing.

About a half hour drive will get you to this NY State Park. Two man-made lakes (kind of yucky bottoms), not the greatest beach, but you can rent canoes and there’s some cool hikes. You’re near the Kaaterskill Falls, if you want to make a day exploring that region.

It is an authentic Tibetan Buddhist monastery for the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. The main shrine room is dedicated to Shakyamuni Buddha and features one of the most beautiful statues of the Buddha in the world. The shrine room is open to the public Mon – Fri 2:00-6:00, and on weekends from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 6:00 if a teaching is not occurring.
